Host a food or book drive

Host a food or book drive at your organization to help stock the Feeding Kids and reading kids shelves. It is simple, easy, and effective.

How to Host a Food or Book Drive

  1. Choose Your Time Frame – Decide when your collection will take place.

  2. Share the Right Materials

    • For a food drive: Print and share our shopping list with your members, employees, or customers.

    • For a book drive: Let participants know we accept books for all ages—from baby through high school—as long as they are in good condition (no rips, stains, or water damage) and age-appropriate. Please, no religious texts.

  3. Spread the Word – Post about your drive on your website, social media, and anywhere people will see it! Be sure to share details with Feeding Kids Cleveland County and tag us on Facebook and Instagram: @feedingkidscc and @readingkidscc.

  4. Get Creative – Assign different groups, classes, or departments a specific item to bring (for example, yoga class members bring canned chicken). You could even make it a friendly competition!

  5. Set Up a Donation Spot – Choose a collection area that is visible and easy to find.

  6. Offer Giving Alternatives – If someone forgets their donation, remind them they can give by check (made payable to Feeding Kids Cleveland County) or donate online at feedingkidscc.org.

  7. After the Drive – When your collection ends, contact Heather at info@feedingkidscc.org to arrange pick-up or drop-off of all items.
